Go Eng Girl

For girls in grades 7-9 to explore the exciting field of engineering!

Go Eng Girl is an annual opportunity for girls in grades 7-9 to visit the University of Manitoba and dip their toes into engineering. Participants will be grouped with current female undergraduate engineering students for a fun and hands-on engineering build activity. Meanwhile, parents/guardians can attend a presentation from the Faculty of Engineering about what a degree and career in engineering looks like. The event is free to attend and includes lunch (and prizes! and more fun!)

For the 2019 event, we are excited to be partnering with the Neil Squire Society / Makers Making Change for a unique build-a-thon activity. Student participants will have the opportunity to build a Lipsync: a mouth-controlled joystick / input device that can be used to control a computer or touchscreen for people with challenges associated with hand mobility. This Go Eng Girl event will be all about the ways engineering can be used in the design of assistive technology. At the end of the event, all Lipsyncs produced will be donated to people who can benefit from them!
