WISE Kid-Netic Energy Employment

We hire Workshop and Club Instructors FOR Fall/Winter TERMS & Spring/Summer term.

We employ undergraduate students to deliver our STEM programming. Throughout the school year we travel to schools in and around the City of Winnipeg, delivering hands-on workshops based on Manitoba Science curriculum to K-12 grades.

In Spring, we deliver our workshops to communities further away from Winnipeg including rural and northern communities; and a number of First Nations communities in Manitoba.

In the Summer, we offer day camps in Winnipeg and communities throughout the province.

Our instructors are trained to deliver all of our K-12 workshops, as well as our camps in the summer. As an instructor, you can expect to travel to communities throughout Manitoba.

Our Fall and Winter instructors enjoy flexible part-time work hours that accommodate their university course schedules. Our Spring and Summer instructors work full-time for more extensive travel.

We offer a starting wage of $16.50/hr. and, pride ourselves in hiring students who reflect the diversity of the students we see throughout Manitoba.

We provide our instructors with an amazing experience through which they can gain valuable experiences in STEM outreach and make meaningful impact to youth - by becoming positive role models to these youth and fostering their excitement about STEM!

Employment Eligibility & How to apply

To be eligible for these positions, we require applicants to:

  • be full time students (with 60% course load or more),

  • hold a valid intermediate or full Canadian driver's license and have reliable access to a vehicle that can be used for work,

  • submit an application form, alongside an instructional video on any STEM topic they're passionate about.

    Since we provide STEM programming, a background in science, engineering, kinesiology, education or a related field of study, is also an asset.

WISE Kid-Netic Energy offers in-person School Workshops to schools within Winnipeg and surrounding areas (up to 1.5 hours outside the city), with a potential for Workshop Delivery in further communities in Manitoba.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Workshop Instructors, conducting exciting science, engineering, and technology programs during school hours.

Black Youth In STEM - Program Instructor

WISE Kid-Netic Energy Workshop Instructors – Black Youth In STEM have the important role of fostering interest in science, engineering, and technology, through games and interactive hand-one workshops, to all youth with a particular focus on Black Youth. WISE Kid-Netic Energy aims to employ Instructors who reflect that community of Black Youth In STEM participants, and who can be not only relatable but also be positive role models.  

Black Youth in STEM Workshop Instructor (Part Time Position - for students)

Depending on staffing availabilities - Programming may be delivered in several formats including:

  • Weekly club sessions hosted on the University of Manitoba campus

  • One-off workshops in collaboration with community organizations or libraries

  • Customized events in schools or other learning environments

Robot Fight Club Instructors

WISE Kid-Netic Energy is hiring female undergraduate students in computer science, engineering, or individuals with experience in coding and robotics to lead Robot Fight Club in Winter Term 2026, which is a 10-week Saturday program for girls in Grades 7–12.

Using LEGO® Mindstorms Inventor kits, club participants will collaboratively build and program a robot called Tricky while developing coding, robotics, and design thinking skills, all leading up to a team challenge at the Manitoba Robot Games (date to be confirmed).

Program Details:

  • Club led by Female Undergraduate Post-Secondary Students.

  • Training Period: December 2025 and during the first 2 weeks of January 2026 - Exact dates TBD

  • Club hosted in the Price Faculty of Engineering.

  • All-Girls Robotics Club - Introducing girls in Grade 7 to 12 to Coding & Programming a Robot called Tricky.

  • 10 Club Sessions are in preparation for the club participants to compete in the MB Robot Games.

  • Club Session run Saturdays - Winter Term 2026 - 11:30 am - 3:30pm
