Who We Are

Thanks for visiting our site! We are WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) Kid-Netic Energy. We are an outreach program from the University of Manitoba dedicated to increasing youth participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields. Annually, we engage over 30,000 youth throughout Manitoba through in-school workshops, summer camps, extracurricular clubs and other special events. We focus in particular on reaching youth who may have additional barriers to STEM engagement, and have developed a variety of programs specific to girls*, First Nations youth, and youth in the inner city.

Since we began in 1990, we have been providing hands on, memorable STEM programming both in school and out. Although we're based in Winnipeg, we travel extensively to deliver workshops and camps across Manitoba, reaching a number of First Nations and rural communities.

Whether you're a student, a parent, or a teacher there's plenty for you on our website. WISE KE would love to be a part of your educational experience!

*Our Girls programs are for all girl-identified youth and / including youth who are non-binary, trans, or otherwise gender-diverse!

Our Mission

At WISE Kid-Netic Energy, our mission is to inspire, engage, and empower Manitoba’s school children (grades K-12) through hands-on experiences in STEM.

We are dedicated to fostering curiosity, confidence and critical thinking by providing inclusive, accessible and innovative educational programs that celebrate diversity and encourage underrepresented groups to envision themselves as future leaders in STEM fields.

Our Vision

To create a future where every child in education (grades K-12) in Manitoba—regardless of gender, background, or community—sees themselves as a capable innovator and confident problem solver, driving positive change through science, technology, engineering, and math.

Our Values

Inclusivity & Diversity - We value creating opportunities for all children; girls, Indigenous students, and other underrepresented groups — to feel welcome, supported, and inspired in STEM.

Empowerment - We are committed to supporting every child to have the confidence and skills to see themselves as problem solvers, innovators, and leaders in their communities and beyond.

Curiosity & Lifelong Learning - We foster curiosity through hands-on, experiential learning that encourages exploration, creativity, and a love of science, technology, engineering, and math.

Equity & Accessibility- We are committed to breaking down barriers so all Manitoba children regardless of socio-economic background, gender, disability, can access high-quality STEM education.

Collaboration & Community -. We value teamwork and partnerships, understanding that working together with educators, industry leaders and the community strengthens our impact and reach.
