Our Mission

We envision the youth of Manitoba inspired and empowered by the possibilities of science, engineering and technology.

We envision a Manitoba where all youth, regardless of background, gender or socio-economic status are enriched in their science, math and technology education.

The young people of today will become Manitoba's vibrant and diverse workforce of leaders tomorrow; these youth will be empowered by their knowledge and appreciation for science, engineering and technology.

Who We Are

Thanks for visiting our site! We are WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) Kid-Netic Energy. We are an outreach program from the University of Manitoba dedicated to increasing youth participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields. Annually, we engage over 30,000 youth throughout Manitoba through in-school workshops, summer camps, extracurricular clubs and other special events. We focus in particular on reaching youth who may have additional barriers to STEM engagement, and have developed a variety of programs specific to girls*, First Nations youth, and youth in the inner city.

Since we began in 1990, we have been providing hands on, memorable STEM programming both in school and out. Although we're based in Winnipeg, we travel extensively to deliver workshops and camps across Manitoba, reaching a number of First Nations and rural communities.

Whether you're a student, a parent, or a teacher there's plenty for you on our website. WISE KE would love to be a part of your educational experience!

*Our Girls programs are for all girl-identified youth and / including youth who are non-binary, trans, or otherwise gender-diverse!
