What is a WISE Kid-Netic Energy workshop?

Take a look at our workshop catalog! (Also available in French) A WISE Kid-Netic Energy instructor will enter your classroom equipped with supplies, enthusiasm, and excitement for a jam-packed science, engineering, and technology workshop. These dynamic sessions consist of exciting demonstrations, interactive experiments, and hands-on activities.  Upon completion of the workshop, the class will have developed an excitement for science, engineering, and technology while interacting with positive university role models.

Our workshops are designed, tried and tested with the Manitoba School Science Curriculum.

Who Usually Books Workshops?

  • Elementary,  Middle and High Schools
  • Girl Guide and Scouting Groups
  • Home schooling Groups
  • Day Cares and Nursery Schools

When do your workshops take place?

Our workshops are available year round (September – June inclusive) but are dependent upon instructor availability.

Do you offer workshops outside of Winnipeg?

Yes!  We will deliver workshops to communities up to a distance of 200km outside of Winnipeg. We also designate certain weeks throughout the year to travel to farther communities across Manitoba (Including Churchill, Norway House, Thompson, Flin Flon and more!).  Call or email us to get your community on our list of places to visit!

How much does a workshop cost?

All workshops are offered for a nominal fee of $50.

Why did we increase our pricing?

We charge schools $50 per workshop but that does not meet our costs.  Depending on the amount of travel involved, the materials used during the presentation and the wages of our undergraduate instructors, the actual cost is closer to $100.  In order for us to continue to deliver workshops, we have increased our pricing to help cover some of our associated expenses.

How do I pay for my workshops?

We will invoice you (your school or program) after you have recieved your workshops.  This is because there are often last minute changes to workshop bookings and in order to avoid any incorrect invoices, it simply makes sense to invoice after the fact!

Payment is to be sent to:

University of Manitoba
Revenue, Capital and General Accounting
315 Administration Bldg
Winnipeg, MB  R3T 2N2

What is an ENGAP presentation?

The University of Manitoba ENGAP (Engineering Access Program) Program in partnership with WISE Kid-netic Energy are sending out Science/Engineering Coordinators to present an ENGAP Presentation to aboriginal students across Manitoba with hopes of interesting students to pursue their secondary education in Science and Engineering and to provide information on the benefits that the ENGAP Program provides.

This is a FREE WISE Kid-Netic Energy Workshop, as long as your classroom has an aboriginal population of 40% or higher.  This opportunity is offered for grade 8 to 12 classrooms.
